Mungret College 40th Anniversary Gathering Sept 2014…Update

A small delegation of (Roger Fitzgerald, John Power, Karl Roche & Victor Ryan) visited the college recently and met with members from the Limerick Christian Centre, the Mungret Historical Society and the Limerick County Council. We were given a tour of the college and what a trip down memory lane. Most of what we left behind is intact including the classrooms, boot room, swimming pool and refectory amongst a few.

A treat is in store for all past pupils on the afternoon of the 6th Sept when we will do an official guided tour through and around the college grounds.  The Limerick County Council recently purchased the 66% of the college not already owned by the Christian Centre and this section requires major renovations, some of which may be undertaken before our visit in Sept. The section owned and supervised by the Christian Centre is in amazing condition and our function will be held in this area.

The enthusiasm and energy of all the above mentioned parties towards our visit was infectious and we can now report that everything is on track to make this event a very special occasion.

Initial feedback is very positive with numbers from all geographical areas in the world emailing their confirmation. Places will be limited unfortunately due to the capacity and accommodation we can provide within the college. The message is to get your name on the sheet as soon as possible as the next reminder will not be emailed or posted until July. All emails advising attendance can be forwarded to karlfroche@eircom.net who is compiling a master sheet.

We also understand that rooms are filling up at the Strand Hotel so if you want to be part of that action please confirm your booking with Amy Gribbin on 061- 421888 and mention Mungret College party as we have negotiated special rates.

Time is running out and September is just around the corner so if you are intending on coming please send off your confirmation immediately.
